Patrol Fall 2002, Beaded in 2004 at Camporee.
Summary: Scouting
is a great way to learn many life skills: leadership, ethics,
teamwork, responsibility, environmental consciousness, and self
sufficiency. It is also a great place to make new friends.
None of this will happen, however, if the scouts aren't having fun.
It is our goal to keep Troop 87 as "boy led" as possible while
keeping them on track toward their advancements in a safe and respectful
manner. We want to make this as fun as possible in order to maintain
their interest in the program.
Camping Motto: Hiking
is an ancient and honorable mode of transportation.

Summary:
I have been in the engineering field since 1987
and have been involved in scouting since 1996. Current positions
include ASM, Cubmaster, U/C, ADC, RT staff, District trainer staff, District
Webmaster, and about anything else I can squeeze into the 1 hour a week
schedule. Recently was the chairperson for the largest pushmobile
race in our council. 1243 scouts raced! I am a Woodbadger from SR-388 Eagle Patrol. The last
Boy Scout Woodbadge! Beaded in May 2002 with another Eagle from
SR-446. A Double Eagle!
Camping Motto: It
was colder at my campsite than at yours!! AND "we could use a blue
tarp for that"
Summer Camp
Evaluation: $6
for a gallon of ice cream is outrageous! But $2 for a pint of ice
cream is VERY fair at summer camp!

Summary:
Some
of the most memorable times I had in my youth involved
Scouting. The fun I had in camping spanned backpacking at Philmont to
whitewater canoeing, to many, many memorable campouts. Boy Scouting
is
COOL because it teaches the boys lifetime lessons while they are having
fun
so they don't realize it. Organized Sports Teams are great in that they
teach physical skills, teamwork and good sportsmanship. However, Scouting
teaches so many additional skills, places them in the company of many good
role models, gives the boys a moral compass and help makes them tomorrows
leaders.
